BIOGRAPHY

Acclaimed for her commanding technique, expressive depth, and captivating stage presence, pianist Natasha Paremski has established herself as one of the most compelling pianists of her generation. Her performances are distinguished by a rare combination of virtuosity, musical intelligence, and emotional intensity, earning her devoted audiences and regular invitations from leading orchestras and concert series around the world.

Natasha is a frequent guest of major orchestras throughout North America and Europe, including the Minnesota Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Nashville Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, Oregon Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, and National Arts Centre Orchestra of Ottawa. She has performed and toured extensively, and recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, appearing with the orchestra since 2008 at some of London’s most prestigious venues, including Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, and Cadogan Hall.

Her European engagements have included performances and tours with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Tonkünstler Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Orchestre National de Bretagne, Orchestre de Nancy, and Moscow Philharmonic, working with distinguished conductors including Thomas Dausgaard, Peter Oundjian, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Jeffrey Kahane, James Gaffigan, JoAnn Falletta, Fabien Gabel, Rossen Milanov, and Andrew Litton. She has also collaborated extensively with violinist Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica, touring Latvia, the Benelux countries, the United Kingdom, and Austria, and has appeared with the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in Taipei.

As a recitalist, Natasha has appeared at such celebrated venues and festivals as Wigmore Hall, Auditorium du Louvre, Schloss Elmau, the Verbier Festival, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Tokyo’s Musashino Performing Arts Center, San Francisco Performances, Seattle’s Meany Hall, and the Harriman Jewell Series in Kansas City. She has also been featured on the Rising Stars series of the Gilmore Festival and Ravinia Festival.

A passionate chamber musician, Natasha maintains a particularly fruitful musical partnership with Grammy Award-winning cellist Zuill Bailey, with whom she has recorded several albums. Their Britten recording on Telarc debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Classical Chart and remained there for several weeks, while also being featured on The New York Times Playlist. Natasha has appeared at numerous chamber music festivals, including Jeffrey Kahane’s Green Music Center ChamberFest, Lockenhaus, Toronto Summer Music, Sitka Summer Music Festival, and Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival.

Her recording career began with a critically acclaimed solo recital album released in 2011, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Classical Chart. The album was subsequently reissued by Steinway & Sons, including a performance of Balakirev’s Islamey recorded using Steinway’s revolutionary Spirio technology. Her discography also includes Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Fabien Gabel, released on the orchestra’s label and distributed by Naxos.

Deeply committed to contemporary music, Natasha continually expands her repertoire through collaborations with living composers. Among her notable projects is the premiere of Gabriel Kahane’s Piano Sonata, written specifically for her and subsequently featured on her solo recording, as well as the Variations on a theme by Tchaikovsky written for her by the legendary jazz pianist Fred Hersch.

Natasha’s artistry extends beyond the traditional concert platform. She was featured in choreographer Benjamin Millepied’s Danses Concertantes at New York’s Joyce Theater and appeared in a major two-part BBC Television film exploring the life and work of Tchaikovsky, filmed on location in St. Petersburg. She also participated in Twin Spirits, a film and live performance project exploring the lives and music of Robert and Clara Schumann, starring Sting and Trudie Styler and directed by John Caird.

A recipient of numerous prestigious honors, Natasha was named a Gilmore Young Artist in 2006, received the Prix Montblanc in 2007 and the Orpheum Stiftung Prize in Switzerland, and was named Young Artist of the Year by the Classical Recording Foundation in 2010.

Born in Moscow, Natasha began studying piano at the age of four with Nina Malikova at the Andreyev School of Music. After studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she moved to New York and continued her studies with Pavlina Dokovska at Mannes College of Music. She made her professional debut with the El Camino Youth Symphony at the age of nine, appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at fifteen, and recorded two discs with the Moscow Philharmonic.

Now based in New York City, Natasha is also the Artistic Director of New York Piano Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting pianists whose professional lives extend beyond music.
