The Quatuor Modigliani captivates audiences with its luminous sound, remarkable unity of expression and an instinctive ability to reveal the emotional depth of the string quartet repertoire. Since its founding in 2003, the ensemble has built an acclaimed international career, bringing fresh perspectives to works ranging from the classical canon to contemporary creations.

In 2020, the quartet became artistic director of the string quartet festival “Vibre! Quatuors à Bordeaux” as well as the renowned “The Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition.” The quartet is the founder and Artistic Director since 2011 of the Saint-Paul-de-Vence Festival as well as Artistic Director of the Festival de Musique de Chambre d’Arcachon. Since Autumn 2023, they have been mentors at the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot.

Since the 2025/26 season, the Quatuor Modigliani is the artist-in-resident at Radio France in Paris where they present a three-part concert series each season. The residency will culminate in the premiere of a commissioned work by composer Philippe Manoury.

Highlights of the 2026/27 season include a North American tour in Autumn 2026, with performances at prestigious series such as Chamber Music Houston and at the Colburn School in Los Angeles. In Europe, the quartet will perform at major venues including the Megaron Concert Hall in Athens, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall in London, Flagey in Brussels, at the Barcelona Quartet Biennale, and the Musikverein in Vienna.

To celebrate Beethoven’s 200th anniversary in 2027, the Quatuor Modigliani has embarked on one of the greatest challenges in the life of a string quartet: recording all 16 Beethoven string quartets. This ambitious project marks the beginning of a new collaboration with the prestigious Harmonia Mundi label, with the first box set featuring Beethoven’s Op. 18 quartets (Nos. 1–6) and Haydn’s Op. 77 quartets (Nos. 1–2) scheduled for release in December 2026. In 2022, the quartet released a recording of Schubert’s complete string quartet repertoire, further establishing their interpretation of the great pillars of the quartet canon. The Quatuor Modigliani recorded for the Mirare label from 2008, releasing 14 quartet albums and 3 collaborative albums, including their 2025 Tchaikovsky album featuring Souvenir de Florence with violist Hélène Clément and cellist Antoine Lederlin.
